Zetland
Country House Hotel stands on the edge of Cashel Bay in
Connemara - an area of outstanding natural beauty. In
this untamed landscape of mountains, lakes and sandy
white beaches, this country house is an oasis of elegance
and Irish hospitality. Owned and managed by John and Mona Prendergast, Zetland House ensures that its guests can enjoy gracious living as it was in times long gone. The house, which was originally built as a sporting lodge in the early 1800's, derives its name from the Earl of Zetland, who was a frequent visitor in the last century. Today, the Prendergast family has recreated the charm and elegance of those bygone days combined with the sophisticated luxury of modern times. The beauty of Connemara is at all times evident - from the main reception room and the guestrooms, you look over gardens, richly endowed with flowers, shrubs and trees, sweeping down to Cashel Bay and on to the Atlantic Ocean. Upon entering Zetland House, time appears to stand still as the flickering flames of a real turf fire casts its light on elegant antique furniture. The feeling of timelessness persists in the cosy sitting rooms, where you can enjoy delicious home baking with your afternoon tea. Zetland House has an international reputation for the quality of its cuisine, where salmon, lobster, Connemara lamb and home-grown herbs and vegetables feature among the favourites on the menu. ROOMS: 20 beautifully decorated guestrooms, including 4 deluxe rooms, all of which are en-suite. Complete with all sophisticated comforts, each bedroom offers splendid views overlooking either the gardens or sea. |
