Noble Adare
Manor is a delight in every sense - an architectural gem set in the timeless
greenery of the rich and fertile landscape of County Limerick. Adare Manor
though, has entered a new era. Home for over 150 years, to the Quinn family
and Earls of Dunraven, the Manor was transformed in 1987 from a private
one thousand acre estate to an elegant world class hotel.
The Second Earl of Dunraven, prevented by illness from outdoor pursuits
of hunting and fishing, dedicated himself to the building of the Manor.
Begun in 1832 and continued by his son, the construction of Adare Manor
and the planting of some twenty acres of gardens extended over thirty
years. Today, the Manor in all its preserved glory reads like a novel.
The beautiful oak stairway is dominated by finely carved ravens, which
are reminders of the Second Earl's wife, heiress to the Dunraven Castle
of Wales. The most recent addition to the estate is the fantastic Robert
Trent Jones golf course, the layout of which is quite something to behold.
Trent Jones sees the par 5 18th, as probably the best finishing hole to
be found anywhere.
More than fifty individually carved fireplaces, enhance the ambience of
the spacious bedrooms and suites, each a meticulous re-inspiration of
the original design. Rich with history the Manor House of Adare stands
witness to centuries of Ireland's fate. Once again though, the glamorous
life has returned to Adare Manor.
ROOMS: 63 en-suite guestrooms, including 5 Dunraven staterooms, all of
which boast individually fashioned wood panelling at the hands of local
craftsmen. Most bedrooms offer fantastic views over the manicured gardens
or River Maigue.
